چکیده

In this paper we present a variational technique for the reconstruction of 3D cylindrical surfaces. Roughly speaking by a cylindrical surface we mean a surface that can be parameterized using the projection on a cylinder in terms of two coordinates, (l, θ), representing the displacement and angle in a cylindrical coordinate system respectively. The starting point for our method is a set of different views of a cylindrical surface, as well as a precomputed disparity map estimation between pair of images. The proposed variational technique is based on an energy minimization where we balance on the one hand the regularity of the cylindrical function given by the distance of the surface points to cylinder axis, and on the other hand, the distance between the projection of the surface points on the images and the expected location following the precomputed disparity map estimation between pair of images. One interesting advantage of this approach is that we regularize the 3D surface by means of a bi-dimensional minimization problem. We show some experimental results for large stereo sequences.

Dense Multi-view 3D-reconstruction Without Dense Correspondences

We introduce a variational method for multi-view shapefrom-shading under natural illumination. The key idea is to couple PDE-based solutions for single-image based shapefrom-shading problems across multiple images and multiple color channels by means of a variational formulation. Rather than alternatingly solving the individual SFS problems and optimizing the consistency across images and chann...

Inference of 3D Human Body Posture from Multiple Cameras for Vision-Based User Interface

In this paper we presents a silhouette-based method for 3D human body reconstruction from multiple views. The silhouettes are extracted automatically from the captured frames using a background-learning approach. The multiple views are integrated using the epipolar geometry relating the pair of synchronized video streams. The 3D model of the human body is derived from the integration of the med...

State-Based Visibility for 3D Reconstruction from Multiple Views

Estimating visibility is one of the most important steps for multi-view reconstruction using volumetric scene representation. In this paper, we propose a simple approach to estimating visibility based on the current state of a scene which is implicitly represented as the zero level set of a function. Our method can determine the regions of a 3D space visible to several given viewpoints efficien...

Methodology for image-based reconstruction of ventricular geometry for patient-specific modeling of cardiac electrophysiology.

Patient-specific modeling of ventricular electrophysiology requires an interpolated reconstruction of the 3-dimensional (3D) geometry of the patient ventricles from the low-resolution (Lo-res) clinical images. The goal of this study was to implement a processing pipeline for obtaining the interpolated reconstruction, and thoroughly evaluate the efficacy of this pipeline in comparison with alter...

Multi-view Geometry Compression

For large-scale and highly redundant photo collections, eliminating statistical redundancy in multi-view geometry is of great importance to efficient 3D reconstruction. Our approach takes the full set of images with initial calibration and recovered sparse 3D points as inputs, and obtains a subset of views that preserve the final reconstruction accuracy and completeness well. We first construct...
